Supporting Iceland’s renewable transition with Haf-Afl.
Wavepiston has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iceland based Haf-Afl for the development of commercial wave energy farms.
Iceland has long been a leader in renewable energy and the blue economy. Geothermal and hydro have traditionally provided a strong base, but future challenges remain. Thermal generation is becoming constrained and grid resilience challenged.
Wavepiston’s wave energy technology offers an interesting value proposition to Iceland due to its:
- Clean, predictable power that complements wind, hydro and other renewables, an ability to supply remote, grid-constrained areas.
- Industrialised water solutions. These are especially valuable for remote communities where fish farms and water security are critical.
- Resilience for isolated population centres that depend on reliable, low-carbon energy sources.
Together with Haf-Afl ehf. we look forward to exploring how wave energy can help broaden Iceland’s renewable mix, by delivering solutions that are both sustainable and practical at scale.
We thank Haf-Afl for their partnership and vision, and we are excited about what we can achieve together as we bring Wavepiston’s technology to new shores.
