From Partnership to Project: Wavepiston on the Ground in the Caribbean
Wavepiston is strengthening its presence across the Caribbean, turning strong local partnerships into tangible opportunities for deployment.
Over the last months, our colleagues have had a strong on-the-ground presence in the Caribbean. Our Business Development Lead for the region Anders Nash alongside CEO Michael Henriksen, were in Barbados meeting with local partners and stakeholders. Visits to the future deployment area injected increased impetus.
Following this, our CCO Emiel Schut, made an extended visit to Barbados and Martinique, meeting with key public and private-sector stakeholders. Collectively, these visits have further advanced the progress towards commercial-scale projects.
In Barbados, we are building on our partnership with Export Barbados (BIDC) and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MIST), local stakeholders and donors. Parties are expressing increasing urgency that Wavepiston can contribute to the island’s energy independence and water security.
In Martinique, Emiel continued discussions with Collectivité Territoriale de Martinique (CTM), key donors and local partners advancing work around the marine data campaign currently underway. Discussions have advanced towards permitting requirements for deployment. The team of Martinique Developpement and Export France were instrumental in setting up a tight schedule, ensuring a smooth visit.
These visits reflect Wavepiston’s commitment: commercialisation starts on the ground. By working closely with local stakeholders, we can develop projects around real needs while building the partnerships needed for successful deployment.
