Wavepiston entered a collaboration with YS Energies Marines Developpement (YS~EMD) to develop a wave energy project in Martinique. The project aims to provide clean energy for the local communities.
The agreement is the result of a preliminary site selection study that was done in 2021-22 co-funded by ADEME. The study identified the wave energy potential of the area and the most suitable locations for the project. As a result, the companies have now joined forces to kick-start the project development.
In the first phase, we will deploy a 2MW commercial pilot farm which will be extended to a 12MW farm in the next phase of the project.
YS~EMD develops ocean energy projects (tidal and wave) for and with stakeholders in coastal regions.
Both parties are thrilled to kickstart the commercialisation of wave energy and make a large, positive impact in the energy transition, starting in the Caribbean.
